Claudia Concha
Description : As a human being, with so many questions, ART turned into my way of ask, express and discover, a necessity and a compromise of life, a way to confront myself, my fears and emotions. ART is my way of going deep, and deep inside, understanding that questions are what’s important, no matter the answers, which might not even exist.
Letting express the raw emotions and allowing the unconscious to say what the conscious can feel but can not understand, ART turned into the way of discover my own language.

CLAUDIA CONCHA

BIOGRAPHY

Claudia Concha was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1970.
Since she was a child, she was restless in her search for ways of expression through different materials, space, form and design. Her obsession with space and form led her to receive a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University Of Los Andes In Bogotá, Colombia. As an Architect, she was eager to find more ways to express emotions, which brought her to study in the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.
After that, Concha went to Florence, Italy, to expand her knowledge of art. She studied at Lorenzo Dei Medici School of Art, focusing on painting, drawing, sculpture and art history.
Upon return to Colombia, and for the next 10 years, Concha participated in an abstract expressionism workshop with Rita Miranda, a renowned Colombian Artist. This is where she discovered and developed her own language and style of art. During those years, she also founded a successful contemporary furniture Company, named "SINGULAR", where she designed and manufactured her own line of furniture.
Currently, Concha works in her own studio in Los Angeles where she has lived since 2003. She continues to evolve in her art and expresses herself through the playful and creative use of form, color and emotion. Her abstract expressionism has been extremely well received throughout Colombia and Concha is delighted to present her work here in the United States.
In her drawings she explores that magical moment when emotion conquers the rational mind, or the joy of a child’s simplicity taking over an adult’s rationalism. Throughout her work Concha challenges mainstream thoughts and theories of how things are expected to be and shows how intuition leads to life’s simple answers.
Her intention is to unleash raw emotions in bold movements, allowing her to express the creative force of the unconscious in her art.
Influenced by artists such as Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Francis Bacon, Willem de Kooning and Anthony Tapies, Claudia Concha´s work is bold, meaningful, memorable.
